I've
spent my life playing and singing the
music I love with some of the most talented people in the music
business... artists like Vic Damone, Tony Bennett, Herbie
Hancock... producers like Hugh Hefner, Mitch Miller, and Fred Foster...
arrangers like Don Costa... and many other musical geniuses too
numerous to mention.
As a teenager, I fell in love
with the jazz guitar of Charlie Christian (Benny
Goodman Sextet) and Oscar Moore (Nat King Cole Trio). After I
started playing around my hometown Chicago with groups of my own, people would ask
me to sing. Ever since then, singing and playing have been inseparable
to me. I still perform, write, and record, and will until the day I die.
And now I have a website, for which I am very grateful.
My wife
Dale and I have worked together to re-construct and organize my life in
music here... past, present, and future. I got a kick out of re-living
some fond memories, like signing with Mitch Miller and Columbia
Records, Hef and the Playboy Club years, and making a splash on Jackie
Gleason's TV show. By now even my bad manager stories are humorous.
(See Career History.) I hope you enjoy some of these stories.
Thanks
to my good friend Austin Bealmear for the excellent liner notes he
wrote for one of my CDs which I've included here on the Biography page.
Publishing-wise, I have both ASCAP and BMI music publishing licenses and a catalog full
of undiscovered hit songs. One was a
#1 hit overseas for Dionne Warwick but has never been released in the
U.S. (See Publishing page.)
Stay in touch!
Enjoy the music! (More song samples featured in Career History section.)
